For anyone who is trans*, this post may be triggering for transphobic bullshit.
My boyfriend (who I will call DJ) recently came out to his family as transgender. His mother and brother are completely on board with it, and they're really trying to use the right pronouns. His father, however, has said that he will call DJ his daughter until "the outside reflects reality". Meaning that until testosterone kicks in and changes start happening, he refuses to call DJ his son.
I'm kinda stuck here. I want to try talking sense into DJ's father, but I don't want to push it because it really is a big change for everyone and he might need some time to get used to it. On the other hand, DJ is really stressed about it. His anxiety has spiked to an insane degree. It's getting difficult to manage his dysphoria because his dad doesn't see him as the man that he is...
Does anyone have any similar stories or suggestions?
